Bious Labs was founded by scientists with PhDs in chemistry and technology to advance natural skincare and cosmeceuticals. Its direct-to-consumer packaging needed to protect products in shipping, communicate luxury, educate customers and keep every material easy to recycle.

Chapter 1 |
CONTEXT & PROBLEM
Premium cosmetics are commonly packed in fragile laminated retail boxes, wrapped in plastic bubble film and placed inside another corrugated shipping box. This is expensive, wasteful and creates a poor direct-to-consumer experience.
Chapter 2 |
OPPORTUNITY & SOLUTION
Opportunity: The goal was a win for cost, sustainability and customer experience while leaving no doubt that the product is premium.
Solution: One corrugated box now performs both retail and shipping roles. A recycled gray inner layer adds strength and a refined reveal. Paper-based holders, an unlaminated recycled closure label and a fully recycled padded mailer keep sorting simple and reduce the need for separate packages.

Chapter 3 |
CUSTOMER EDUCATION
A clear instruction printed on the box explains not only where to place the paper package but also how to separate the cosmetic bottle into glass and plastic parts for correct recycling.
Chapter 4 |
SUSTAINABILITY & FINANCIAL BENEFITS
Sustainability results: Every packaging component is recyclable. Corrugated board contains 70–85% recycled material, the outer sticker is 100% recycled, the gray PCW layer is recycled and carbon-neutral, plastic lamination is eliminated, and the optional mailer uses 100% recycled paper.
Financial benefits: Using one box instead of two removes material and manufacturing steps and is substantially cheaper than a separate retail box plus shipping carton.
