Briefly about The SCALE of packaging decisions
ORUMAS is a next-generation home fragrance system positioned as a luxury atmospheric tool that shapes space through scent. Designed for homes and hospitality environments, it offers a refined and controllable scent experience. Built on advanced diffusion technology, it allows users to control intensity, timing, and scent via a mobile interface, creating curated sensory environments.
The brand is driven by a space exploration narrative, framing fragrances as discoveries beyond Earth. This positioning transforms scent into a conceptual experience, merging technology, perfumery, and spatial design.
Products include:
A scent machine (together with plug.. etc.)
Scent essences (200 ml fragrances in glass containers, 15 different scents),
A scent discovery set (7 × 10 ml glass spray bottles for exploration),
Complemented by a dedicated shipping box designed for the complete

Packaging shaping perception from the first interaction
Context & relevance
Consumers are increasingly desensitized to conventional “luxury,” where visual sameness leads to forgettable experiences. Packaging often remains superficial—delivering appearance, but not engagement. In home fragrance, products rely on predictable premium aesthetics, lacking depth and truly immersive experiences.
This creates an opportunity to transform packaging into an active part of the system—shaping perception from the first interaction and extending the brand into an ongoing sensory experience.
CREATIVE DIRECTION & CONCEPT
The packaging translates the core principle of the product—diffusion—into a physical experience. It begins as a quiet, minimal object and unfolds into a more open form, mirroring how scent spreads and transforms an environment.
From the outside, it appears as a mysterious, quiet luxury object, while unboxing reveals a contrasting interior world. Laboratory-style labeling reinforces precision and technical character, transforming the products into collectible parcels from another world. Matte silver accents, inspired by spacecraft materials, act as subtle, stardust-like highlights.
We developed a packaging system that translates diffusion into physical, unfolding experience.

unboxing experience
Focusing on user experience, the packaging system is built around a single defining gesture: as the lid is lifted, the four walls of the box unfold and “diffuse” outward. This controlled movement creates a sense of expansion, transforming the unboxing into a dynamic interaction.
A subtle, consistent gap between the lid and the base becomes a unifying visual element across all package sizes, maintaining continuity while suggesting a continuous flow of diffusion.
As the structure unfolds, it reveals the product elevated on a pedestal. The form resembles a satellite in motion—reinforcing the ORUMAS narrative and its atmospheric character.
INNOVATION IN SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL SYSTEMS
Innovation in this project is driven by material selection as both a functional and narrative tool. The packaging combines structural precision with materials that reinforce the perception of a “cosmic artifact.”
Extensive material exploration led to the selection of Papur Cascada cover paper, featuring a raw, lunar-like surface with subtle irregularity. This is paired with Zouch eFoam R3, a recyclable, non-cross-linked polyethylene foam chosen as a sustainable alternative to standard EVA. Its porous, softly shimmering texture resembles a mineral landscape while ensuring high-performance protection for fragile and heavy components.
PRECISION ENGINEERING
Achieving the controlled “diffusion” of the walls required precise engineering and iterative testing. Material friction and tolerances were carefully calibrated to ensure a smooth, gradual unfolding and reliable closing mechanism, developed in close collaboration with manufacturers.
